It’s not that often that I write about custom bikes under 100cc. Not that I don’t like them, it just so happens that builders mostly prefer to work with bigger and more powerful donors as their customers are the ones who make a choice. But these bikes surely have some major advantages: they are lightweight, easier to handle, perfect for short distance trips and they are also slower which can be very beneficial sometimes. With the right approach, such classic can be turned into a very cool and practical motorcycle with an eye-pleasing design and sufficient functionality.

This Honda S90 rebuilt into a Cafe Racer is one good example of what can be done with these mopeds. However, there are also Mobylette SP90 and Puch Magnum ‘Sieben’ we wrote about.

The bike was done by Fernando Casado from Brazil and is based on 1972 S90 model. It seems like there’s still an original design hidden underneath this whole customization, though the new appearance is fresh, modern and goes well with the classic lines.

Fernando says he was very surprised and happy finding out about the donor bike. The commissioner – Alessandro Almeida loves retro and he wanted his own custom Cafe Racer to be built around precisely this not that popular now Honda S90.

Fernando managed to embody two styles: the one the bike had before and the new one that’s meant to express the owner’s individuality.

I’m certain that Alessandro was more than impressed with his new bike!
