Walking on the street and seeing the bike like this must be really exciting. No doubts this BMW bobber would draw attention even in the places where people can’t be easily surprised, like Los Angeles for instance. That’s were the guys from the Spirit Lake Cycles workshop work their magic.
With this minimalistic vintage style the bike reminds me of the R51/3 50s model, but a little bit reworked to meet modern concepts. I’m not sure if that’s what the guys were going after, but the result as you can see, is just stunning.
There is an interesting thing about the design – take a look at how greatly the hefty motor has been balanced by short fenders, low handlebars and the saddle. Also the pipes were shortened and routed under the seat.
The guys replaced an old tank with the Honda CB360 unit that was skillfully combined with a properly shaped solo seat.
Old style reversed levers handlebars were fitted at the front along with the original headlight. Two lumpy firestone tires perfectly suit this bobber giving the look everything it was missing. The bike is finished with glossy black and white striping.
